Thursday Morning Tai Chi at Eastgate

We have a brand new beginners Tai Chi class at the Eastgate Centre, near Bristol City Centre. Thursday Morning Tai Chi at Eastgate is at the Streetenvy dance studios, Oriental City (above the Chinese supermarket).

Tai Chi 37 Form

In this class we will focus on learning the Tai Chi 37 form (Taiji 37), as taught by Grandmaster Dr Shen Hongxun. This form is based on the principles of the Nanpai tradition (Southern Tai Chi School). It consists of 37 postures naturally flowing from one to the other. It has some similarities to the Yang style form, well known in the west. We will also study some Standing postures (a traditional way to learn Tai Chi in the southern school) and some Qigong exercises.

Find out more about Tai Chi 37 form classes here:

If you study Tai Chi with me, it is not just about racing through the postures so that you can tick a box and say that you know the form. My approach is about learning the form as a way to understand Tai Chi principles and internal force, and help to heal and strengthen the body and mind. We will not be doing any fighting or partner work in this class.

Eastgate centre is well located. It is on the border of St Werburghs, Eastville and Easton, and with good access to the wider city due to its proximity to the M32. The area is also well served by the city’s cycle and bus network.
