New Wednesday afternoon classes in Ponthir Village Hall have recently started. (Close to Cwmbran and Caerleon). This is a relaxed and friendly class aimed at the over 50’s.
We focus on helping with common problems such as posture, stiffness, aching joints, co-ordination and balance. This practise is also very good for overall health and well-being, including general levels of fitness, boosting strength, energy levels, and relieving mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. The exercises are based on the Taijiwuxigong system (Tai Chi & Qigong), and are slow, precise movements. We also use breathing and sound techniques to help open up the body.
The class caters for all abilities and mobility levels, and you can exercise standing or sitting. We spend time helping everyone to achieve the most from the class, so whether you are fit and able bodied, or you have a chronic condition which limits your ability to participate in exercise, then this may be for you. You don’t need any previous experience of this kind of exercise to participate and you can push yourself as much or as little as you want. It is also a great opportunity to meet new people.
This is a ‘balanced lives’ class, provided by the charity Action for Elders, and so it is FREE to all over 50’s. There are no set ‘terms’ so you can join anytime you want.
