We have two new Qigong and Meditation classes on Friday Evenings. These are taking place at UWE Bristol Frenchay Campus at the centre for sport. They are open to everyone – students, staff and members of the public. At 5.00pm we have a Qigong class (a Tai Chi based Qigong system called Taijiwuxigong). Immediately after this at 6.00pm we have an introductory guided Meditation session where you can learn the foundations of meditation practise, breathing techniques and how to quieten the mind.
There is good cycle access via the local off-road cycle network. There are good bus links to Frenchay campus, and you can also park at the centre for sport.
To come along you need to register and pay via UWE MOVE. Details of how to do this are below.
Classes are held every week in University term time.
Qigong class details:
When: Fridays 5.00pm – 5.55pm
Where: UWE Bristol Centre for Sport
What: Tai Chi based Qi Gong. These are health exercises from the Taijiwuxigong system, as taught by Dr Shen Hongxun.
Cost: £5.00 per session – registration and payment through UWE MOVE
Who: All are welcome, whatever your age or experience – we start with the basics, and everyone works at their own pace.
Meditation class details
When: Fridays 6.00pm – 5.45pm
Where: UWE Bristol Centre for Sport
What: Guided meditation. We teach foundation for meditation, breathing exercises, and how to quieten the mind. For more information have a look at our meditation page:
Cost: £5.00 per session – registration and payment through UWE MOVE
Who: All are welcome, whatever your age or experience.
UWE Move classes – available to all – online and in-person:
Available to members of the public as well as students and staff. Online classes are currently free, and In-person classes incur a fee of £5.00 if you pay per class. For this you need to register with MOVE here: https://www.uwe.ac.uk/life/activities/sport/membership-options/move. Alternatively, you can join the Uwe Move programme (see link above). This incurs an annual cost. After that classes are free and you will also have access to a range of other activities including aerobics, pilates and swimming…….Classes are term-time only and usually finish in April.
